Mourning Doves - For alto flute and electronics
“Mourning doves” was composed as a reflection of how we often take times of simplicity and innocence for granted. As children we often find ourselves wishing for more independence and feeling an urge to make a greater impact. As life goes on it grows more and more complicated, we realize that those times where we wished for more were the best times. We often associate these memories with sights and sounds. In this composition, the call of the morning dove, a bird call often associated with one’s childhood is blended with the timbre of the alto flute to create a nostalgic tapestry of sounds.
